Sharon Cuneta reveals why she didn’t work on teleseryes back then

On November 9, Megastar Sharon Cuneta revealed why she didn’t want to work in teleseryes before joining FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.

During the media conference, Cuneta said she didn’t want to do teleserye because of the long work hours.

“Lagi kong inaayawan talaga dahil ‘yung magge-guest ako sa Maalaala [Mo Kaya], hindi ko kinakaya ‘yung morning to morning, nagmememorya ka. Alas singko ng umaga, paiiyakin ka or sisigaw ka pag dramatic ‘yung eksena. 

“‘Yung tuloy-tuloy yung araw. Para kang gumagawa ka ng pelikula na usually shinoshoot mo between a month to six months depende sa director, tapos biglang ginagawa mo in three days. Parang ‘yun ang takot na takot akong mangyari sa teleserye.”

She then clarified that FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano because of their “decent” work hours.

“But I hear the hours here are very decent and good. Everybody has to be at their best pagdating sa set. So parang, there’s a 12-hour cut off everyone. That’s amazing. Applause ako doon, applaud ako doon. It’s a good example sa set.”

She also explained that long work hours affect actors’ performances. However, in FPJAP, Sharon only heard good things.

“No because your performance also suffers. Ang teleserye pag walang consideration sa cast, magsa-suffer ‘yung teleserye mismo. Kasi every one’s going to be so tired. Ganon, everyone’s going to look hulas na hulas na kami ganon. Pero here, I hear maayos, sabi nga ni Osang.

“Ayaw kong mapagod ng ganon, sanay akong magtrabaho, I’m a very hard worker, I’m not scared of work. And I don’t like abusing my body. Parang feeling ko, asking too much of you, pag ganon, hindi ko alam kung paano nagagawa noong iba kung hindi ganito ka-considerate ‘yung head ng show mo. So, I’m very glad that they implemented this.”

She also noted that she is happy working with the powerhouse cast, adding that she felt impressed by Coco Martin’s commitment to the show.

“It made my heart so happy kanina when I saw their faces from Coco to all the other directors, to my cast members na hindi pa kumpleto pero ‘yung closest sa akin. Rowell, John Estrada, Osang, and of course, Julia Montes we just really got to talk kanina. 

“Si Coco, he’s so committed to Ang Probinsyano it’s amazing to see. It’s touching to see someone, relatively young, very young pa, na ganon. You know you’re on top of this big show that has been number for six years. Di ko ma-imagine.”
