Paolo Contis on leaving his heart behind, says it’s part of maturing as a person

On November 5, Kapuso actor Paolo Contis said that leaving his heart somewhere or with someone is part of maturing as a person.

During the media conference for I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, Contis explained that leaving behind someone’s heart doesn’t make someone a /bad person, and it just makes them human.

“Sa lahat ng stages ng buhay natin mayroong ganon, mayroong pinag-iiwanan ang puso natin. But not because we don’t love them, but iba ‘yung ano eh, minsan naiiwan mo sa puso mo is a place, naiiwan mo sa puso mo ay trabaho, kahit friends.

“But, kasama ‘yun sa pagma-mature mo as a person. That doesn’t make you a bad person. It just makes you human. Sa tingin mo may mga bagay na mahirap desisyunan, but sometimes you have to do it, for yourself maturity.”

As for the attention he got after his separation from LJ Reyes, Contis clarified that he prefers people judge his work as an actor and not by his personal life.

“Ako to be honest, as an actor syempre mas gusto natin na mag-trend ka dahil sa acting mo. Kung ma-bash ka dahil sa acting mo kasi artista ako. Naniniwala ako na we should be judged by our profession. Kung mali ako umarte, bilang artista, kung pangit ‘yung acting ko, doon niyo ako– doon ako madya-judge. ‘Yun yung maganda.”

Contis explained that he doesn’t enjoy the attention he’s receiving.

“Kung nae-enjoy ko siya, hindi naman nae-enjoy pero naninibago ako to be honest. Kahit anong galaw mo napapansin siya, nama-magnify siya. Naninibago ako, pero para sabihing nae-enjoy ko siya? Hindi naman. Pero tanggap ko ba siya, yes, I know it’s part of the job. Again mas matutuwa ako kung ang mapapansin at mapapansin eh ‘yung magandang nagawa mo sa trabaho.”

As for his Christmas Wish, he said he hopes that Filipino’s lives return to normal after the pandemic.

“Gusto ko lang naman bumalik sa normal ang buhay ng mga Pilipino. For two years, we’ve been having a very hard time. Ako gusto ko lang bumalik ‘yung normal na buhay but hopefully we learn from this to be more careful, to be more loving of our fellow Filipinos and our country of course. Kasi tayo-tayo rin naman ‘yung makakapagpa-safe sa atin.”

Contis stars in the upcoming Kapuso series, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, alongside Heart Evangelista and Richard Yap. The teleserye premieres on November 15, 2021, on GMA Primetime. Joining them are Kapuso artists Michelle Dee, Mavy Legaspi, and Kyline Alcantara.
