Kim Atienza admits getting ticked off by Rappler journalist’s ‘pseudoscience’ tweet

Kim Atienza, popularly known as Kuya Kim, admitted on November 3 that he got pissed by a journalist who undermined his Halloween segment in 24 Oras.

“Pikon ako!” he blurted during the media conference for his latest show, Mars Pa More.

According to Kuya Kim, he reacts immediately to criticisms. However, as a Christian, he now learned to control his temper and shift a negative discussion into a positive one.

“Alam mo, very reactive ako eh. It’s good that I know that I react very easily, very fiery, mabilis akong mag-react eh.

“But you know, since I became a Christian, I became more circumspect and more ascertain with my answers.

“‘Pag sagot ko, trivia na ang sinasagot ko or I shift the energy na maging masaya,” he said.

But it did affect him as he implied that his Halloween segment was not purely based on science since it is a magazine format.

“Ka Ernie Baron was the inventor of Pitu-pito, Ka Ernie Baron also believed in pyramids… it was Halloween naman eh.

“It’s a magazine segment, my segment naman is not a pure science segment. So we did a segment with Ed Caluag,” he explained.

There is no point in arguing with a basher, as pointed by Kuya Kim.

“Talo tayo eh. Kung si Mars Iya at si Mars Cams o ako ang pumatol sa basher, which is far for the course, marami naman kaming bashers talaga eh, whether we like it or not, kami ang talo doon eh. It’s really best to either just keep quiet or shift the energy positively para gumanda ang usapan.”

Being a trivia man, Kuya Kim also admits being pressured living to his name. He said that people expect him to know everything and be perfect which is terrifying for a human person.

“Oh yeah! People ask me stuff all the time, every single day. They try to test kasi kung alam ko eh.

“And you know the biggest pressure of being Kuya Kim? The biggest pressure is not to make a mistake. I’m expected to be perfect all the time. But I’m human, of course, I make mistakes.”

But when it comes to his family, he considered himself not the alpha but his wife. Kuya Kim stressed that he does not pressure his children due to the little time he gets to spend with them.

“They felt no pressure on me whatsoever. They felt pressured by the mom. If you think that I’m smart, I’m not. My wife is smart. And if you think that I’m very heavy-handed, no! I’m the clown of the family. It’s my wife that is the alpha mommy eh.

“So walang pressure ang mga anak ko. Kasi naman I spend so much time on television and spend a little time with them. Tapos titigasan ko pa at papahirapan ko pa sila.

“S’yempre whatever little time I spend with my kids, it would be fun. They see me like that, and it has been that way since they were growing up. Walang pressure.”

Kuya Kim officially joined Iya Villania and Camille Prats in Mars Pa More. It airs every weekday, at 8:45 a.m., on GMA Network.
