Gearing Up For A New Era: ABS-CBN builds up a new roster of Kapamilya leading men

ABS-CBN is finding the next male stars who could follow the footsteps of the Network’s top leading men (who may not be around in the coming years).

ABS-CBN began to fill up the vacated roster of new leading men since most of its male stars are either retiring or becoming unfit to play the roles they used to play.

They are on the lookout for potential stars of the Network.

The attention is now on these fine young gentlemen who have been gradually being introduced to the public by their recent and upcoming big projects.

The likes of Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, or even Daniel Padilla, will be most likely still around in the next few decades. However, they may no longer want or may have become unfit to play leading man roles, which brings the question ‘who will occupy the spots they will most likely vacate in the next few years?’

The following are male stars who we think to hold the greatest chance of seeing their career soar to the heights achieved by ABS-CBN’s homegrown superstars, in the near future:

Aljon Mendoza.

Mendoza is having one of the biggest career developments for a PBB ex-housemate. In recent years. Known as PBB’s shy charmer, the Pampanga native has dramatically evolved as a confident up-and-coming star, without losing his ‘quiet guy’ appeal.

After his PBB stint, ABS-CBN has given him several memorable roles on television. He played a supporting role in the afternoon series, Sandugo, in 2019. In 2020, he starred the mini-series, Amapalaya Chronicles episode, Labyu hehe, and he was cast as among the lead roles in the podcast series, The Four Bad Boys and Me. He currently plays the adorable character of Charles, in the iWantTFC series, Hoy Love You.

Anthony Jennings.

The future looks bright for Jennings with the upcoming projects he is set to star in, including the Star Creatives project he will star alongside some of ABS-CBN’s fast-rising young stars. The 19-year-old is no doubt moving in his career at an unprecedented pace, which he owes not just to his expensive leading man looks, but also his impressive talent.

One of the very first members of ABS-CBN’s Rise Artists Studio, Jennings is projected to further soar. His potential has been made known to public through his appearances in various programs, including the iWantTFC series, The House Arrest of Us and Touchscren, and the Primetime Bida drama series, Make It With You.

Donny Pangilinan.

No other young male star in his generation navigates their careers with overwhelming potential and incredible pace, as Pangilinan does. Undoubtedly one of today’s most popular young stars, Pangilinan is poised to forge a path to superstardom. His onscreen partnership with fellow Kapamilya artist, Belle Mariano, is widely considered as the new love-team-to-beat.

Early this year, Pangilinan and Mariano, broke through the online streaming world with the massive success of the iWantTFC series, He’s Into Her. The love team’s highly anticipated movie debut and the season 2 premieres of their hit series would bolster their careers.

JC Alcantara.

Alcantara has showcased his breathtaking acting chops through his compelling performances on various ABS-CBN shows, including Maalala Mo Kaya, where he appeared in several episodes. From his humble beginning as a commercial model, Alcantara has first risen to popularity via the 2018 series, Halik. With the web BL series, Hello Stranger, however, he was catapulted to mainstream fame. A film, which served as a sequel to the massively hit series, was also released, early this year.

It’s hard to miss Alcantara’s leading man potential. He is a talented charmer who can handle dramatic roles. His appeal that is widely compared to that of late Rico Yan is a convincing sign of the bigger success that awaits him, although it won’t surprise if he creates his own legacy,

Jeremiah Lisbo.

The spotlight is bright over Lisbo at the moment as he moves forward in his still young showbiz career with great promise of breaking through. Already poised to take on bigger roles, he has recently proved his mettle in handling dramatic roles with the MMK episode he just starred in. Earlier this year, he was one of the most lauded for his showstopping appearance on the hit iWantTFC series, He;s Into Her.

Last year, he delighted viewers with his Four Sisters Before the Wedding appearance. He also delighted fans with the podcast series, The Four Bad Boys and Me, and the film, Love or Money, which starred Angelica Panganiban and Coco Martin. He will enthrall his followers again with his first lead role in a movie, via the Cathy Garcia-Molina film, Love at First Stream.

Kyle Echarri.

Echarri is undoubtedly one of the most promising young stars today, with millions of fans following him and his on-screen partnership with Kapamilya actress Francine Diaz. A The Voice Kids alumnus, Echarri has taken off from his humble beginnings to being one of his generation’s fastest-rising stars.

Currently a PBB housemate–he has starred in several movies and TV series., Most of which with Diaz. He appeared in the recently concluded primetime series, Huwag Kang Mangamba.

Seth Fedelin.

Fedelin is no doubt one of his PBB season’s most successful housemates, given the massive success he enjoyed in showbiz, in the last few years. From a mere showbiz aspirant, Fedelin has emerged as one of the most promising young Kapamilya stars. His Kadenang Ginto stint has arguably paved him to land bigger roles, including the one he played on Huwag Kang Mangaba.

It’s not surprising that Fedelin has quickly found himself under the spotlight shortly after his PBB exit. He has a very convincing charm and he has expressive eyes that belong to most effective dramatic actors.
