Ogie Diaz on ABS-CBN still shutdown: Believes the network will return

Talent manager Ogie Diaz expressed his belief that ABS-CBN will return, despite having proven its innocence, remained off the air.

To recall, the Kapamilya Network went off the air back in May 2020 after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ordered a cease and desist order, halting the operations of the media giant.

Though it is over a year since its shutdown, Diaz remained loyal to the Network.

Yung loyalty ko kasi sobra, iba,” he said.

Diaz recalled how the company helped him whenever he needed help.

“So everytime mawawalan ako ng show, nandyan sila lahat para bigyan ako.”

Since ABS-CBN remained close, Diaz said he would be there to support and defend the Network whom he owes a sea of gratitude to.

The Network faced a number of allegations from the Government, ranging from tax issues up to its owner’s citizenship. However, none of the claims were proven as ABS-CBN, through Carlo Katigbak, debunked all of them.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) had cleared ABS-CBN of any ‘violations’ in terms of the tax issues.

“They are regularly filing and paying their taxes for the past number of years,” Simplicio Cabantac Jr., head of a unit of the BIR Large Taxpayers Service, said during one of the franchise hearings.

Even the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) attested that ABS-CBN did not commit any infractions.

“Yung Constitutional issue, ‘yan nga po nasa Supreme Court but you are correct as far as your concern, wala kaming basehan para sabihin na nag-violate sila ng regulations namin,” SEC Commissioner Ephyro Luis Amatong testified.
