For Kim Atienza, ABS-CBN’s darkest hour has passed
Seasoned weatherman Kim Atienza felt that ABS-CBN, his former company, is already past its darkest days.
Atienza believed so during his welcome after he transferred to the GMA Network on October 5.
He said such after trolls and haters criticized him for leaving ABS-CBN when it is still off the air.
He then explained that he did not leave his former Network at their lowest moment, hinting that ABS-CBN is already preparing something new for Filipinos.
“Kasi ang binabato sa akin na issue eh, ‘Bakit ko naman iniwanan ang ABS-CBN eh sinabi ko naman na hindi ko s’ya iiwanan.
“Ang sagot ko dy’an, I am not leaving ABS-CBN at its darkest moment. The darkest moment of my former company has passed.
“Believe me, in a few months, they will announce something very beautiful which I cannot disclose. And it would be good for them.
“So I am leaving at the time that is good, it’s not the time at their darkest. The time at their darkest was last year. Maganda ang mangyayari sa dati kong istasyon and I’m happy for them,” he said.
Indeed, the Network has risen from the ashes following the denial of its franchise renewal application in 2020.
ABS-CBN on Thursday, October 21 has already reached greater heights.
They already partnered with different digital platforms like YouTube, Kumu, WeTV iFlix, Netflix, and Spotify.
“We recognize the need to innovate and create memorable experiences to keep our Kapamilyas coming back for more,” said ABS-CBN head of digital Jamie Lopez at the IMMAP Digicon Pop recently.
Because of ABS-CBN’s inability to air on free TV, Olivia Lamasan, ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. managing director, emphasized the Network’s need to reconnect with its audience. To achieve this, he said that partnering and collaborating with various groups as part of the plan to reach Filipinos.
“Without theatrical, without our own broadcast platform, we have evolved into being primarily a content company, providing content even to outside platforms, productions, and partners.”
At the same time, the Asian streaming platform iQiyi announced that they will be producing two shows for the Kapamilya Network. Gigi De Lana and Gerald Anderson will star in the digital series Hello Heart t while Gold Squad Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin will lead Saying Goodbye.
ABS-CBN also strengthened its digital presence by collaborating with Pinoy live streaming and community platform Kumu by having its channels FYE, MYX Global, and SeenZone become viewable in the app. Kapamilya artists also have their own Kumu live streaming channels, becoming content creators of their own.
The longest-running Kapamilya reality game show Pinoy Big Brother will be back in Kumu for its tenth season called PBB Kumunity Season 10, wherein online auditions, 24/7 live streaming, and online shows will be done on Kumu.
As regards to teleseryes, ABS-CBN shows such as FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano among others are available for streaming on the platform for free via WeTV iFlix aside from their own iWantTFC.
ABS-CBN also announced its collaboration with YouTube Kapamilya YOUniverse where the Network’s YouTube channels come together and showcase exciting content made for the platform.
When it comes to delivering news and public affairs, ABS-CBN News continues to gain a stronger digital presence as its facebook page has now 22.7 million followers and on YouTube, 13 million subscribers.
