John Lapus joins Maine Mendoza’s ‘Daddy’s Gurl’
On September 21, actor-comedian-writer-director John Lapus tweeted his new project as a writer for Maine Mendoza’s Daddy’s Gurl.
Lapus retweeted a photo of a script for Daddy’s Gurl posted by director Chris Martinez, which showed Lapus’s name as the writer.
He expressed his gratitude, noting how proud he felt joining the team of the sitcom.
In an earlier interview with showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz, Lapus shared that one of his friends helped him out in the writing gig for the Kapuso show.
“T’saka in fairness sa akin, hindi ako nangungutang, hindi ako nanghihingi ng cash. Work. Ito ngayon, as in two days ago lang, may kaibigan akong nilapitan na pwede akong bigyan ng writing job.”

Lapus worked with ABS-CBN for almost two decades before he signed a contract with GMA network in 2006. He became the host of S-Files and Showbiz Central.
During his Kapuso days, he worked on projects such as Ako Si Kim SamSoon, Luna Mystika, Adik Sayo, and Full House.
He returned to the Kapamilya network in 2013 as part of, Kahit Konting Pagtingin. He stayed with ABS-CBN until its shutdown in 2020 and was among the retrenched employees after its closure.
He then worked with TV5 in Paano ang Pangako.
As for his directorial career, he worked on several episodes of Maalala Mo Kaya, Wansapanatym, and Ipaglaban Mo. His latest directorial offering was the mini-series, Boyfriend No. 13 on WeTV Philippines.
As for his writing career, he wrote two episodes for Maalala Mo Kaya and the CinemaOne originals film, Pang MMK.
