Estrada-Duterte-Arroyo-Marcos alliance ridiculed by Bodjie Pascua, netizens

Actor Bodjie Pascua and other Netizens on November 28, Sunday, criticized the alliance of political families to support the Bongbong-Sara tandem in the upcoming 2022 national elections.

Known political names such as Arroyo, Duterte, Estrada, and Marcos have signed an agreement on November 26 at the Sofitel Plaza Manila in Pasay City to merge their parties, becoming a powerhouse in the elections.

Meanwhile, in a tweet, Pascua ridiculed them, pointing out that these politicians have two things in common: plunderers and abusers of power.

Netizens also followed Pascua’s satire tweet with their own version.

A netizen then stressed the “ripple effect” of former President Benigno Aquino III’s anti-corruption measures. He pointed out that “thieves” are ganging up to defeat a heavy contender for the presidential seat: Vice President Leni Robredo.

A Netizen quipped that these politicians should be the ones being blasted as a reference to Robredo’s animé impressions that went viral.

Other Netizens also stressed that these political names have been known of corruption and should have been imprisoned.

Meanwhile, artist Karl Medina lauded Pascua for voicing out his opinion about the political families joining forces.

A netizen ridiculed Pres. Duterte by pointing that he would be the next member of the so-called “wheelchair gang” as Estrada, Arroyo, and Marcos were once in wheelchairs while being tried in court.

Former Philippine President Joseph Estrada, who leads the party Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino, was convicted of plunder in 2007 by the Sandiganbayan after finding out that he stole $80 million from the Philippine government.

14th president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, with Lakas – Christian Muslim Democrats, was involved in a string of controversies after she became President, replacing Estrada, in 2001. Arroyo was allegedly behind the infamous Hello, Garci scandal, which points to her rigging the 2004 national election to her favor, leading to her arrest on November 18, 2011.

Incumbent President, Pres. Duterte, on the other hand, has been linked to several controversies during his term. He was being probed by the International Criminal Court (ICC) about his violent war on drugs, resulting in countless victims losing their lives.

Duterte also has been defending the country’s top medical supplier amid the pandemic, Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp., which the Senate is currently investigating after it won several contracts worth P8 billion despite having a paid-up capital of only P625,000.

Duterte’s daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio leads the Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

The Marcoses, whose political party Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, joined the alliance to support Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s presidency. The family has been involved in many controversies, including issues about their alleged ill-gotten wealth and the Martial Law abuses during former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.’s two decades of leadership.

Bongbong, who is running for President, was also involved in corruption issues as the Court of Appeals affirmed that he had been evading taxes from 1982 to 1985 while he was a vice governor and then governor of Ilocos Norte.
