Why You Should See It:

A heart-wrenching tale of family and romance unfolds in this new GMA network sibling drama, that stars the Network’s finest young actresses.

StarStruck alumna Yasmien Kurdi, plays Dorothy, as the eldest of the Manansala siblings, who is left with the responsibility to look after her embattled family as they confront the sins of their father.

Las Hermanas follows the lives of the Manansala siblings after their father died.

The grandiose lives of Dorothy, Minnie (Tolentino), and Scarlet (Da Silva) took a complete reversal when their father’s death left them an enormous debt to settle.

As Dorothy is the eldest, she is left with the task of ensuring her sisters will leave a good life. But losing their family fortune isn’t the only tragedy they will be needing to confront.

In the wake of their parents’ death, the once untainted relationship between the three soon gets marred by ambitions and romance.

The entry of Lorenzo Ilustre (Albert Martinez) into their lives is set to bring in more chaos and turmoil to their already disintegrating family.

Las Hermanas feels to be well-poised to become GMA Network’s next afternoon sensation.

This is not the first time the Network is offering a TV show with this theme, and in the past, they usually succeeded in winning audiences.

As it airs during the daytime, the show will need more spice and drama to score attention from audiences who may rather take their siesta sleep or concentrate at work than pay attention to what’s being shown on TV. The pilot week certainly passed such a challenge with its mind-blowing revelations and big confrontations.

The pace of the show also helped in keeping the interest of the viewers, but this is a pilot week and proceedings understandably, should not move at a lazy pace.

Given the amount of drama and confrontations delivered in its first week alone, one can expect that things are yet to explode in the succeeding episodes. Intensified rivalries among the Manansala sisters will surely happen, but it’s the campy confrontations and how the elements of vengeance, greed, and romance, will further spice up the plot, that truly build the hook. The scope of Martinez’s role will also be one to look forward to in the series.
