Thea Astley perceives her voice is as important as a singer and as a Filipino
Kapuso artist Thea Astley perceived that her voice is important as a singer, and as a Filipino, too.
Thea thinks that her voice can be used not only in singing but also in giving opinions on issues happening in the world.
She stated in an interview, “I’m a human and I have a brain.
“My voice isn’t just for singing, but also for staying true to what I believe in. For fighting for my beliefs and for what I stand for.”
She believed that everyone has the right to speak their minds and to be involved in social issues.
“I think everyone has a right to speak their minds as long as they’re not stepping on anyone’s toes. As long as they’ve done the research, as long as they are speaking from truths and from facts,” she added.
Although she is not as famous as the other artists, she felt that somehow, she has an influence on other people.
She said, “People like me, even though I’m definitely not as big as other artists, but I do have a group of people that do listen to me and who I have influence over.
“So I try to be responsible about that. I recognized that that influence is our responsibility. I don’t let that stop me from speaking my mind.”
As an opinionated person, it is important for her to be able to give an opinion on important matters.
“I think your voice is important. Anyone’s voice is important.”
“Whether you are an artist or an ordinary citizen, it is important to have an opinion.”
Meanwhile, Thea Astley is very grateful to be chosen as the host of the upcoming music and talk podcast Behind The Song. It will be available every Tuesday for streaming on Spotify for free and will also be released on GMA Network’s social media platforms as well.
