REVIEW: Celebrity Housemates kick off PBB Kumunity Season 10 on a high note!

The new housemates of the celebrity edition of Pinoy Big Brother is an ‘interesting’ mix. Its initial episodes seem like a preview of what an exciting new season it will be.

The PBB fever is [certainly] on, now that the 10th [main] season of the long-running reality series has debuted on A2Z Channel 11, Kapamilya Channel, and various online platforms. 

The new season opens just seven months since the coronation of Liofer Pinatacan as PBB Connect’s Big Winner. This season, however, is expected to be a long one as Celebrity, Adult, and Teen editions will be comprising it.

The kickoff last Saturday, October 16, offers a [interesting] preview of how this season will look like. 

Housemates of easily recognizable personalities entered the house, and this early, avid viewers can already see, who is standing out, who is still trying to test the waters. 

Comedians Brenda Mage, TJ Valderama, and Madam Inutz are this edition’s comic housemates, and as early as the first two nights, they have already done too much work.

Exciting personalities and possibilities.

The incredible set of personalities being are in this edition is what viewer will dig. Housemates like an athlete, a beauty queen, a mixed martial artist, an online seller, a live-streaming sensation, a new breed of singers, and comedians. The number of housemates will grow with the entry of incoming celebrity housemates like actors.

Brenda, TJ, and Madam Inutz provide entertaining noise as early as the first two nights, but whether they will have the energy to keep their bubbly personality amid looming challenging days. Difficult days are bound to create tension between the housemates, and conflicts are poised to mar developing relationships in the house. 

Interestingly, some events will aid the audiences to determine who among these aspiring housemates are worthy enough to be crowned the Big Winner.

Memorable lines from the first two nights.

“Na-swab ka?” asks Brenda to Madam Inutz

“Bakit inuna mga panget?” (Why did they let the uglies enter first?) Madam Inutz wondered when all the housemates that entered the house next were all handsome and beautiful.

“You don’t belong to us,” said Brenda to Shanaia whom he noticed is too pretty like Anji.

“Bakit tayo lang ang bulok?” (Why are we the only ones who are rotten?) Madam Inutz to TJ and Brenda when all other housemates have entered the house.

“Bakit sya (Anji), Bisaya maganda…” (Then why is she beautiful? She’s also from the Visayas) asks Madam Inutz. 

Brenda replied, “Eh dayo lang kasi kami doon.” (Well, we actually just moved there…)

Promising start.

Judging how the housemates have been quickly developing rapport among them, it won’t be surprising if friendships are straight away formed inside the house. This may also potentially create factions and alliances, but while that may not be necessarily a good thing to all the housemates, the possibility of seeing the housemates go against each other would always be an interesting scene to behold for any viewer.

That said, the success of this edition will still largely rely on Big Brother and his gimmicks. There is still a great possibility that he will resort to his tried-and-tested formula, but he can still make surprises as he did in the previous season.
