Not only big stars, but executives and production staff make their transfer to the GMA Network
Big stars, production staff, and TV executives from other networks made their transfer to GMA, allowing the network to continue growing as a family.
Aside from celebrities, the network recently welcomed several productions staff and executives like Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan and Mariole Alberto.
Other staff that already transferred to the GMA Network were Former Goin’ Bulilit Director Frasco Mortiz, Kapamilya writer Benson Logronio, as well as Bobot Mortiz.
Johnny Manahan
Mr. M became a Kapuso on July 13. He is known as ABS-CBN’s Starmaker as he mentored A-list celebrities like Piolo Pascual, Bea Alonzo, John Lloyd Cruz, and Kim Chiu.
He was previously the head of Star Magic and a senior vice-president of ABS-CBN.
Prior to his transfer to the GMA network, Mr. M worked in TV5 as a Production Consultant with Brightlight Productions. He handled two variety shows: Lunch Out Loud (LOL) and the now-defunct Sunday musical variety show Sunday Noontime Live! (SNL).
He also did a project with Willie Revillame’s production firm Wilfredo Buendia Revillame (WBR) after his stint in TV5.
He is currently GMA Artist Center’s newest consultant.
Mariole Alberto
Another Star Magic head Mariole Alberto also transferred to the GMA network. However, she left ABS-CBN in December 2020, and her departure was in line with “organizational changes.”
Along with Manahan, Tita Mariole helped the careers of many Kapamilya artists who are known as big names in the industry now.
Frasco Mortiz
Frasco Mortiz made his transfer to the GMA network official in April 2021 when he announced that he will be directing GMA’s long-running gag show, Bubble Gang.
He is best known for directing the ABS-CBN network’s sketch comedy program Goin’ Bulilit as well as Luv U.
Benson Logronio
Kapamilya writer Benson Logronio is now with the Kapuso network as a writer for Magpakailanman. Longronio’s work with ABS-CBN includes MMK, The Killer Bride, and the iWant mini-series Hinahanap-hanap Kita.
He is now part of GMA-7’s drama anthology Magpakailanman, and the Kapuso shows Stories From The Heart: Never Say Goodbye and Artikulo 247.
Bobot Mortiz
Bobot Mortiz, the father of Frasco Mortiz, is also a Kapuso as he directed Tutok to Win of Willie Revillame’s Wowowin.
Maria Regine Amigo
Maria Regine “Reggie” Amigo, the writer behind Esperanza (1997), Sana Maulit Muli (2006), Walang Hanggan (2012), Ina Kapatid Anak (2012), and On The Wings of Love (2015), to name a few.
Mark Duane Angos
Mark Duane Angos, the head writer of ABS-CBN, shows Bagani and Dolce Amore.
Jimuel dela Cruz
Jimuel dela Cruz, a writer of ABS-CBN’s Be Careful With My Heart and The Killer Bride, has recently finished his writing duties in Heartful Café. He has at least four upcoming shows in the Kapuso network: Stories from the Heart: Never Say Goodbye, Stories from the Heart: Love On Air, Widow’s Web, and I Can See You: Alternate.
Aris de Guzman
Aris “Ays” de Guzman, who has been writing for Star Cinema movies and ABS-CBN’s child-friendly shows, such as May Bukas Pa, was involved in the fantasy-drama series Agimat ng Agila.
The Kapuso network also welcomed a roster of new Kapuso transferees such as Bea Alonzo, Xian Lim, Richard Yap, and Albert Martinez among others.
Bea Alonzo
Bea Alonzo transferred to the GMA network in July 2021. She transferred to the network after being with ABS-CBN for 20 years.
The actress is best known for her roles in the films One More Chance (2007), The Mistress (2012), Four Sisters and a Wedding (2013), and Eerie (2019).
She is set to star in the Philippine adaptation of A Moment to Remember with Alden Richards, and filming will start this October.
Xian Lim
Xian Lim officially announced his transfer to the GMA network on August 2021 during his interview on ’24 Oras’ with Lhar Santiago.
He is best known for his roles in My Binondo Girl (2011), The Reunion (2012), Ina, Kapatid, Anak (2012–13), Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo? (2013), Bride for Rent (2014), The Story of Us (2016) and Everything About Her (2016).
He is set to top-bill a primetime series with Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado titled “Love. Die. Repeat.”
Richard Yap
Richard Yap became a Kapuso in December 2020. He is best known for his Kapamilya series with Jodi Sta. Maria titled Be Careful with My Heart (2012).
He appears on the upcoming Kapuso drama, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, which stars Heart Evangelista.
Albert Martinez
Albert Martinez was a Kapamilya for about 16 years before he returned to the GMA network in 2021.
He was previously a Kapuso from 1980-1985 and 2001-2005.
He joined the GMA network to be a part of the series Las Hermanas. He also stars in the film The Housemaid with former Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza.
He is known for his roles in several Kapamilya series like FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano (2015-2016), The Good Son (2017), Kadenang Ginto (2018-2020), and The General’s Daighter (2019).
Pokwang
Comedienne Pokwang departed from ABS-CBN in August 2020 to do Chika, Besh, and Fill in the Bank on TV5.
Following the cancellation of her shows on TV5, Pokwang then signed with the GMA network in June 2021.
She is currently a part of Kapuso sitcom Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento.
Beauty Gonzalez
Beauty Gonzales became Kapuso in June 2021. Her last project with ABS-CBN was the revenge drama series Kadenang Ginto (2018-2020).
In June, she first appeared on the TV5 series I Got You before confirming her shift to GMA Network.
Kim Atienza
Kuya Kim officially became a Kapuso in September 2021. He left ABS-CBN after 17 years. He was formerly a resident weather anchor in ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol’s “Weather-Weather Lang” segment.
Kuya Kim is set to host three shows on the GMA Network. These are his entry to the daily morning show, Mars Pa More, and his very own daily entertainment trivia show to air pre-programming to 24 Oras.
Khalil Ramos
Khalil Ramos officially started his journey as a Kapuso in October 2020 after signing an exclusive management contract with GMA Artist Center.
During the actor’s press conference for his grand launch as a Kapuso, he revealed that his girlfriend, actress Gabbi Garcia was one of the reasons for his network transfer.
Ramos also revealed that the GMA Artist Center approached him from January to February 2020.
Maxine Medina
Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2016 Maxine Medina is now a Kapuso and she became a part of GMA Network’s ‘First Yaya.’
Prior to her transfer, the beauty queen was with the ABS-CBN network.
She made her television debut in 2018 on ABS-CBN after joining the cast of Hanggang Saan as Atty. Georgette Sandiego. She later gained prominence as Isay in Los Bastardos, which ran from October 2018 to September 2019.
Thou Reyes
Reyes was Star Magic artist. He started in the 90s.
He played the role of Hugo Bosini in I Love Betty La Fea in 2009. He was also a part of ABS-CBN’s longest-running teleserye FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as he played the role of Bogart.
His last appearance as Kapamilya was in the primetime series Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin, where he did a guest role.
Reyes is also with First Yaya together with Clarence Delgado, Gardo Versoza, Beauty Queen Maxine Medina, Sanya Lopez, Gabby Concepcion, and Pilar Pilapil.
Clarence Delgado
Clarence Delgado finally turned Kapuso. He was a former Kapamilya child star in the kiddie gag show Goin Bulilit.
His first project is the GMA’s telebabad First Yaya where he plays Nathan, one of the three kids of President Glenn Acosta.
Brenda Mage
Comedian Brenda Mage recently became a Kapuso. In July 2021, he thanked the GMA network for giving him a project under the network.
He is a finalist of It’s Showtime’s segment Miss Q & A in 2019.
He recently appeared on the Kapuso show The Boobay and Tekla Show (TBATS).
Martin Javier
He was a former ABS-CBN sportscaster who transferred to GMA Network after working for almost four years as a Kapamilya.
He was introduced in the Kapuso network as one of the newest sports anchors for Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96 and beauty queen Sophia Senoron.
Javier became an anchor of ABS-CBN Sports in 2016 and was part of ABS-CBN’s coverage team of some of the biggest sports leagues in the country.
Lala Vinzon
The Voice Teens season one first runner-up Lala Vinzon was one of the new artists who signed with GMA Artist Center during its event called Signed for Stardom, which was aired on All-Out Sundays on September 5, 2021.
In ABS-CBN, she was included in ASAP’s “Jambayan” segment with Moira dela Torre, Inigo Pascual, Zia Quizon, Migz Haleco, Kaye Cal, and JM de Guzman.
GMA Artist Center has yet to announce its plans for Lala, but she has already made an appearance in All-Out Sundays as part of its “FYP” segment.
Aside from the mentioned production staff and celebrities, one Kapamilya artist is rumored to make his transfer to the GMA Network. This artist is one of ABS-CBN’s A-list actors, John Lloyd Cruz.
John Lloyd Cruz
Cruz was already introduced in the Kapuso network but only as a guest when he appeared in the Shopee 6.6 Mid-Year Sale TV Special of the network on June 6.
In the same month, he met GMA executives Annette Gozon-Abrogar, the president of GMA Films and the programming consultant of the network, and Jose Mari “Joey” Abacan, GMA Network’s Vice President for Program Management.
As of this writing, Cruz did not make his transfer to the GMA network official yet.
With the given list of celebrities, production staff, and executives making their transfer to the GMA Network, this implies that the Kapuso network is set to offer new and fresh shows and TV programs for its viewers.
