LOOK BACK: 11 inspiring Kapuso Kiddie TV series

GMA Network has delivered some of the most remarkable, most popular, and most inspiring TV series, whose target audiences are kids.

Over the years, the Kapuso network has relentlessly offered its viewers inspiring TV programs that appealed to young viewers. Most of these shows featured child stars. 

Year after year, a new child wonder, gets introduced to the public, and as always, the reception is overwhelming.

Most kiddie-seryes produced by GMA Network usually contain the same elements: fantasy, sports, inspiration, among others. This formula seems to work repeatedly, as reflected by the high TV ratings garnered by these shows.

Here’s a look back on GMA Network’s most memorable fantasy-themed kiddie series through the years:

Aso ni San Roque (2012).

Starring the Kapuso child wonder, Mona Louise Rey, Aso ni San Roque. It was an inspiring fantasy adventure series, which featured Rey as an offspring of a human and a mananangal. 

She is destined to save the world from dark forces, with the aid of the miraculous dog sent from heaven to help her.

Binoy Henyo (2013).

Binoy Henyo featured the ingenuity and craftsmanship of a genius boy who possesses a big and optimistic heart despite his poverty and difficult circumstances. 

It starred David Remo, Sheena Halili, Adrian Alandy, Nova Villa. The series aired from July 22 to September 20, 2013.

Fantastikids (2006).

Fantastikids is a 2006 fantasy adventure series, which starred the late Marky Cielo, in the lead role, along with Isabelle de Leon and another child wonder, BJ Forbes. 

The series, which aired for 155 episodes is now available on YouTube.

Futbolilits (2011).

This sports drama followed a group of young kids who all aspire to become football champions. ‘90s action star, Raymart Santiago played as a coach to the characters of Yogo Singh, Renz Valerio, and David Remo. 

It aired from July 4 to October 14, 2011.

Mga Basang Sisiw (2013).

This family drama featured an inspiring tale of five siblings who got separated from their families and each other by difficult circumstances. 

The series starred Renz Valerio, Bianca Umali, Hershey Garcia, Kimberly Fulgar, and Miko Zarsadias.

Mga Mata ni Anghelita (2007).

Based on the film of the same name that starred Julie Vega, Mga Mata ni Anghelita is a miracle series that followed the story of a young girl who can heal people and perform miracles with her eyes.

Mga Munting Heredera (2011).

Starred by Mona Louise Rey, Barbara Miguel, and Kyle Ocampo–Mga Munting Heredera is a highly successful family drama that ruled its timeslot with very high ratings. 

The series followed the story of an ailing old woman in search of her great-granddaughter who is her true heiress.

Niño (2014).

This inspirational drama starred Miguel Tanfelix and David Remo. It follows the titular character who was separated from his birth parents at birth. As he grew older in a challenging environment, Niño becomes the source of hope and miracles of the people in Barrio Pag-asa,

Panday Kids (2010).

A spin-off and sequel to the 2009 film, Ang Panday, this series starred the then-child actors Buboy Villar, Julian Trono, and Sabrina Man. 

The show followed the story of three kids who were destined to protect the world from the evil Lizardo. The show aired 72 episodes in total.

Trudis Liit (2010).

Based on the classic ‘60s film of the same title, Trudis Liit charmed many viewers when it aired on GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime block in 2010. Its lead star Jillian Ward landed many great roles after the success of the show. 

The series also starred Ian Veneracion, Gina Alajar, Mike Tan, Pauleen Luna, Maxene Magalona, and Jao Mapa, among others.

Yagit (2014).

Based on the 1983 soap opera of the same title, Yagit is a story of about hope and dreams, featuring four indigent children who faced great adversities, only to emerge triumphantly in the end. The series Kapuso child stars Chlaui Malayao, Zymic Jaranilla, Judie Dela Cruz, Jemwell Ventinilla.
