Zanjoe Marudo’s secret to showbiz longevity: loves and enjoys his showbiz career

On September 22, Kapamilya actor Zanjoe Marudo shared his thoughts about the longevity of his showbiz career as he celebrates his 15 years in the industry.

Marudo said he loves and enjoys his career as an actor, which led to his 15th year in showbiz.

“Siguro dapat talaga nag-e-enjoy ka sa ginagawa mo. Dapat laging i-make sure mo na parang, dapat you’re having fun habang ginagawa mo lahat ng projects, lahat ng trabaho mo. Tignan mo hindi ko namalayan na 15 years na pala ako sa industriya na ngayon ko lang na-realize na ganon katagal na. 

“Siguro dahil nag-e-enjoy ako at mahal na mahal ko ‘yung ginagawa ko ngayon. Minahal ko na siya actually, dahil pumasok naman talaga ako sa industriya na wala akong kaalam-alam sa pag-arte at pag-aartista.”

He added that he built connections among the people he worked with throughout his 15 years in showbiz.

“Makisama ka ng mabuti sa mga katrabaho mo, hindi lang sa mga artista, kung di ‘yung mga nasa likod ng camera, sa mga staff, sa production. ‘Yun ‘yung importante. Magkaroon ka ng relationship sa lahat ng taong makakasama mo. Kasi hindi mo alam ang mangyayari after. ‘Yun ‘yung importante na mayroon kang connection sa mga tao, hindi lang sa audience.”

As for his early years in showbiz, Marudo admitted that he found it difficult to cope with intrigues when he started his career.

“Sa umpisa, ‘yung hindi ka pa sanay na may mga ikri-criticize ka. Syempre sa trabaho mo or sayo bilang tao. And, matutunan mo naman ‘yun. Pag tumagal na parang matutunan mo na kung paano i-handle.”

Marudo recalled some of his career milestones, such as Pinoy Big Brother and an International Emmy Nomination.

“Ang hindi ko makakalimutan diyan is ‘yung rason kung bakit ako nakapasok sa industriya, is ‘yung pagpasok ko sa PBB. Isa talaga ‘yun sa mga highlights ng career ko. 

“‘Yung pumunta ako ng New York for Emmys, dahil na-nominate ako for best actor. Napakalaking bagay sa akin noon, at that time, kahit papaano hindi pa rin ako bilib sa sarili ko pagdating sa pag-arte. So isa ‘yun sa nag-push sa akin.”

Marudo was the 4th Big Placer in Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition Season 1. He then worked on Kapamilya series such as Dyosa and Dream Dad.

His stellar body of work included an International Emmys nomination for Maalaala Mo Kaya episode titled Anino and 44th Gawad Urian Awards Marudo Best Actor Nomination for Malaya.

To celebrate his 15 years in the business, the Kapamilya network created a documentary for Marudo titled, ‘Hanep, Kinse na pala! Zanjoe’s 15 years in showbiz.’ 

The documentary will premiere on September 26, 12nn on Star Magic’s YouTube channel.
