Rhen Escaño regrets not being able to work with Julia Montes in ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’

Paraluman star Rhen Escaño was looking forward to working with Julia Montes in ABS-CBN’s FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, and on August 31, expressed her regret not to have that chance.

“Well before, actually medyo naririnig-rinig ko na talaga ‘yan na papasok si Julia and na-excite ako do’n. Akala ko kasi maabutan ko s’ya [kasi] hindi ko pa s’ya nakaka-work. So, ni-look forward ko yun na baka maabutan ko siya,” she revealed during the Paraluman’s virtual press conference, Monday.

This came after when the artist was asked if she misses the show’s cast.

“Of course nami-miss ko silang lahat. As in sobra, nami-miss ko sila. Happy ako na until now hindi talaga napuputol yung communication naming.

“Araw-araw nagkukulitan kami online, nakaka-message ko sila. Meron kaming mga groupchat gan’yan. So, ando’n pa din yung lagi kaming nag-uusap na ‘pag after ng sa lock-in, pwede magkita, mag-coffee. Natutuwa ako na sixth year na nila ngayon,” answered Escaño.

It can be recalled that Escaño guested in the show back in 2020 and played Clarice Padua, the daughter of Tirso Cruz III and Ara Mina.

On March 11, 2021, the young Viva artist exited the show with a grand scene. Five months later, on August 23, Montes had a ‘sneak peek‘ in anticipation of FPJAP’s sixth-year anniversary.

“Ngayon natuloy siya, parang sayang, ‘di ko s’ya naka-work or ‘di ko s’ya nakasabay do’n sa Probinsyano.

“Pero nakaka-excite kasi for how many years hindi nila nakita si Coco (Martin) and Julia together. So I think ‘di ba parang na-hype up yung tao na finally makikita ulit nila yung dalawa on-screen.

“Sure ako, sure talaga ako na kaya s’ya nilagay sa show dahil may malaking mangyayari. Sure po ako dun,” she said.

Escaño then expressed her dismay when she could not witness Montes’ acting prowess since she was idolizing her and hoped that someday, she finally gets to work with the actress.

“Well of course ando’n naman talaga yung gusto kong maka-work yung mga nilo-look up ko na mga actors kasi gustung-gusto ko kasi talaga s’ya.

“Nagagalingan talaga ako sa kanya. Sobrang vocal din ako do’n. So sana, magkaro’n ako ng chance na maka-work s’ya,” she hoped.

In the meantime, Escaño is busy promoting Paraluman, her upcoming film with Viva. It is directed by the award-winning thriller and horror film director Yam Laranas.

Returning actor Jao Mapa plays the leading man of Escaño in the film. The story is about Peter (Mapa), a soon-to-be husband who falls in love with Mia (Escaño), a minor twice his age. It will also feature Gwen Garci as the actor’s fiancée.

Paraluman will be available for streaming on Vivamax, September 24.
