Joross Gamboa, Roxanna Guinoo-Yap answer the question on ‘Can exes be friends?’

On September 6, during the media conference for Hoy, Love You Season 2, Kapamilya actors Joross Gamboa and Roxanne Guinoo-Yap answered if exes can be friends. 

Guinoo-Yap explained both she and Joross keep their friendship casual.

She added that both of them have partners they don’t want to offend.

“Friends naman kami eh. Hindi ‘yung super close. Kumbaga casual lang. Kasi kapag married ka na, kapag may pamilya ka na, syempre may mga certain things lang na parang ayaw rin naman natin maka-offend ng partner natin, 

“Kumbaga parang sobrang gamay na namin ni Joross ang isa’t-isa, kami sa sarili namin, alam na namin ‘yung boundaries namin sa isa’t isa. Friends kami hindi naman kami na parang constant na nagkakamustahan. Pero once na nagkita kami nothing has changed.”

Gamboa agreed, cited an example of how they communicate while doing Hoy Love You Season 2.

“For example, not to the point na nagpi-PM ako sa kaniya. Kung kakausapin ko siya, sa group chat. Ganon.”

She added that both of them are mature enough to set limitations.

“Age naman namin ni Joross, matatanda na kami eh. So alam naman namin ‘yung mga limitations, ‘yung mga rules na dapat naming i-apply sa mga sarili namin. Kasi syempre, may mga pami-pamilya na kami. So parang tingin namin parang mature enough na kami para alamin ‘yung mga bagay-bagay.”

He, on the other hand, highlighted the importance of transparency and openness between their respective partners.

“Simple lang naman dito sa bahay, openess and transparency. At saka kumbaga kung guided ka naman ni Lord, wala ka nang dapat ikatakot. So kami naman nadoon naman talaga ‘yung trust and respect for each other.”

As for their chemistry, she thanked their enduring fan base for the support. 

“Sobrang naooverwhelm kami ni Joross because ‘yung fan base naman namin hindi naman kasing laki ng kasabayan naming love team before. 

“So siguro ‘yung naging susi para mag-work yung team up nandoon, ‘yung friendship, ‘yung respect sa isa’t isa, hindi nawala. So ‘yung bawat eksena na ginagawa namin nandoon pa rin.” 

He added that their enduring chemistry was a result of them, respecting each other’s boundaries.

“Talagang ‘yung respeto saka ‘yung boundary sa pagiging magkaibigan talagang nandoon pa rin. Kaya kahit matagal kaming hindi nagkakatrabaho, magkakasama kami sa MMK tapos after two years, MMK or kung ano mang project eh nagwo-work pa rin.”

Both joined ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Quest in 2004. They were in a relationship from 2004 up to 2006. During their time together, they worked on projects such as Can This Be Love and D’ Anothers.

They are reunited in the Kapamilya network’s sitcom Hoy Love You Season 2, which premieres on September 11 via the iWant TFC app. 

The series directed by Theodore Boborol also has its season one finale airing on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z Channel 11, and Kapamilya Online Live.
