Gaya-gaya sa About Time? ‘Di Na Muli’ screenwriter refutes the show being K-drama inspired

Noreen Capili defended her show after the release of Di Na Muli‘s trailer and compared it to the Korean series About Time, September 6.

Di Na Muli is about a girl played by Julia Barretto, who has the power to see the lifespan of a person. Meanwhile, About Time tells the story of an aspiring musical actress who has the special ability to see people’s life spans.

In the virtual press conference of the teleserye, Capili explained that the element of TV5’s show and that of the K-drama were just “coincidental.”

“Nagkataon lang na nagkapareho lang yung element na nakikita n’ya yung life span ng isang tao,” pointed the writer.

Furthermore, the screenwriter noted that the only similarity between the two shows was the superpower.

“Pero yung story, at yung pagkaka-kwento, and yung mga plots na nasa serye namin is very very different from About Time.”

Just like the Japanese series Death Note and Justin Timberlake’s movie In TimeDi Na Muli is about a person’s remaining time on earth.

“It’s just coincidental na mayro’n kaming character na nakakita ng lifespan tapos yung mga series at movies na nabanggit ko mayro’n din silang gano’ng element.

“So ayun, element lang ang nagkapareho pero magkaiba yung kwento. So I think they should watch our series para makita nila na this is really different from that K-drama.”

That being said, Capili, without sharing some spoilers, then revealed the show’s story and how it will go.

“It’s dealing with the gift and all. There is this girl who discovers that she has a gift to tell the lifespan. Kaya ang ginawa n’ya, she uses that gift.

“Sa umpisa, she looks at it as a disadvantage at naging withdrawn s’ya.

“But eventually, the character of Marco Gumabao made her realize na it’s a gift, na hindi mo dapat i-take for granted at gamitin mo s’ya para makatulong sa ibang tao.

“Aside from that, kung paano umiikot sa gift na ‘to yung mga relationship n’ya with other people, with their ex, and their present love, and also her parent,” she shared

Di Na Muli is directed by Direk Andoy Ranay and includes Marco Gumabao, Marco Gallo, Angelu de Leon, Bobby Andrews, and Baron Geisler. It will also feature Krissha Viaje, Andre Yllana, Lander Vera Perez, Katya Santos, and Joe Vargas.

Catch it on TV5, which will start airing on September 18, every Saturday, 8 p.m.
